Get introduced to the magic of Painting by Numbers

Painting by Numbers is a method of dividing a painting into forms, each of which is labelled with a number that correlates to a specific hue. You paint each shape separately, and the picture eventually comes together as a finished painting.

Painting By Numbers

The paint-by-numbers method is sometimes chastised for being basic, unimaginative, and formulaic. I believe it aids in conveying the idea that a painting is constructed from a variety of color shapes. These shapes typically don't make sense on their own and don't appear to be anything "real," but when grouped together, they form the image.

The next step in becoming a better painter is to learn to see color shapes without relying on a written diagram. Completing a paint-by-numbers activity teaches you how to assess a subject and identify color areas. It allows you to shift your emphasis away from the final subject's appearance and toward little regions and the colors that should be used to paint them.

A brush, little pots of paint in as many colors as you need, and a printed outline of the painting are all included in paint-by-numbers package. It may not appear to be much paint, but it should be enough to finish the artwork. Of course, you can use any appropriate paint you have on hand.

Check to see what kind of paint is included in the package (acrylic and oil paint are the most common, though you do get kits with watercolor or pencils). We think an acrylic paint one is better than an oil paint one because the paint dries rapidly and you can wash the brush with water, making it easier for a beginning.

It may be tempting to paint one portion of the picture at a time, but this will result in a lot of brush washing and wasted paint. Paint one color at a time, starting with the larger sections and working your way down to the tiniest. Working from the top of the painting down helps to keep wet paint from being disturbed.

Starting with the larger ones will give you more experience with the brush and paint by the time you come to the tiniest spots, which can be difficult to paint. This is a great way to practice brush control. You know exactly where the paint should go, so you can concentrate only on getting it there.

Framed art is also another popular concept.
